BLOOD ORANGE PIE

Blood oranges have a distinct and flavorful taste compared to regular oranges. They often have a hint of raspberry or berry-like flavor along with the citrusy notes, making them perfect for creating a pie with a unique and delicious taste.

Blood oranges also have a beautiful deep, rich red or crimson color that adds visual appeal to the pie.

INGREDEINTS
  • 1 pre-baked pie crust (you can use store-bought or homemade)
  • 14 oz sweetened condensed milk
  • 2 egg yolks, large
  • 1/2 cup juice from blood oranges (2-4 oranges)
  • 4 tsp blood orange zest

DIRECTIONS

For Pie Crust:  Bake according to directions on package if you are using a premade crust or use your favorite recipe.  Once crust is a light golden brown, remove from oven and set aside. (You can substitute a graham crust if preferred).

Preheat oven to 350 degrees

Mix blood orange zest, blood orange juice, and egg yolks in a mixing bowl. Add in condensed milk and mix on high until smooth and thick. Pour mixture into crust and bake for 12-15 minutes.

Remove from oven, allow to cool, then refrigerate for at least 1 hour—more if possible.

Serve with sweetened whipped cream or chocolate drizzle.
