PIZZA OR CALZONE DOUGH RECIPE

 


This is the perfect recipe for pizza or calzones and if you have a bread machine, it takes less than 5 minutes to dump all of the ingredients into the machine and walk away until it's ready to bake.

INGREDIENTS

  • ½ cup lukewarm water
  • 1 (.25 ounce) package active dry yeast or 1 1/2 teaspoons
  • ½ cup water
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour, plus more for dusting


DIRECTIONS

(WITH BREAD MACHINE)

Place all ingredients into bread machine. My machine instructions say to place liquids first but your machine may be different.  Push the dough cycle.  When done, your dough is ready to use.  

(WITHOUT BREAD MACHINE)

  1. Mix together 1/2 cup lukewarm water and yeast in a small bowl. Let stand until foamy, about 5 minutes.

  2. Combine 1/2 cup water, olive oil, honey, and salt in a large mixing bowl. Add 1 cup flour and mix well. Mix yeast mixture into flour mixture. Add remaining flour, 1 cup at a time, until dough is well combined.

  3. Knead dough on a floured work surface until dough is soft, smooth, and elastic, about 8 minutes. Roll dough into 4 or 8 circles.  Fill with ingredients of choice and then fold over.  Bake according to calzone or pizza recipe you are using.
