EASY AMISH BREAD RECIPE FOR BREAD MACHINE

I’ve always loved homemade bread, but let’s be honest—it is not hared but it can be pretty time-consuming. That’s why getting a bread machine was a total game-changer. Now I just throw everything in, hit a button, and let it do all the work. So much easier, and still just as delicious!

I grew up helping my grandmother make the most amazing homemade rolls. Some of my favorite memories are of standing in her kitchen, kneading dough by her side. I can still picture her hands working the dough with such care and skill.

If you like the taste of homemade bread but don't have the time to do it by hand, pick up a bread machine. You can buy them second hand at yard sales and thrift stores if you don't want to spend the money for a new one.  I have now been using my $2 bread machine from Goodwill for over 15 years.

You can also customize the flavor by adding your favorite seasonings and mix-ins. I love tossing in cinnamon and brown sugar for a sweet loaf, or everything bagel seasoning and cheese when I’m craving something savory.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup warm water (I microwave mine for 30 seconds)
  • 1/4 cup canola oil or oil of choice
  • 1 teaspoon active dry yeast
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup white sugar
  • 2 3/4 cups bread or all purpose flour

Directions

Place ingredients in the pan of the bread machine in the order recommended by the manufacturer. (I put everything in the order I listed the ingredients) Select White Bread cycle; press Start. It's that easy!
