STRAWBERRY RICE KRISPIES TREATS

Ever since I got my freeze dryer, I've been finding delicious ways to use up my stash of freeze-dried strawberries—like these sweet, simple strawberry Rice Krispies treats.

INGREDIENTS

  • 6 cup Rice Krispies
  • 2 tablespoons of butter
  • 10 oz bag strawberry marshmallows
  • 1 ounce freeze dried strawberries
  • Optional: extra freeze-dried strawberry pieces for topping

DIRECTIONS

  1. Grease or put parchment paper in a 9×13-inch pan (or 9×9-inch pan for thicker treats) and set aside.
  2. In a blender or food processor, blend the freeze-dried strawberries to form a powder. Set aside.
  3. In a large pot or microwave, melt the butter and marshmallows.  Stir until completely melted. (My microwave takes 1 ½ minutes to melt the marshmallows perfectly)
  4. Add the strawberry powder. Stir until well combined.
  5. Stir in the cereal.  Spread the mixture into the prepared pan and press gently with spatula or parchment paper to flatten.
  6. Cool in pan for about 30 minutes before cutting and serving.
