This fried squash is a summer favorite at my house. I make it often, and my family always requests it.
I dip mine in ranch made with Hidden Valley or Walmart mix using mayonnaise and milk. Since I use ranch, I keep the seasoning simple. If you skip the dip, add your favorite seasoning to the breading.INGREDIENTS
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- Seasonings of choice (steak or chicken seasoning, Mrs. Dash, powdered Parmesan, or ranch seasoning)
- 1 egg
- ½–1 cup milk
- 1 cup seasoned bread crumbs
- Sliced yellow squash (around 3 medium)
- Oil for frying
DIRECTIONS
- In a medium bowl, combine the flour and your desired seasonings. Dredge the sliced squash in the flour mixture until well coated.
In a second bowl, whisk together the egg and milk until smooth. Dip the floured squash slices into the egg mixture.
Place the bread crumbs in a third bowl. Coat the squash in the bread crumbs until fully covered.
-
Fry the squash in hot oil, working in batches, until golden brown. Drain on paper towels and serve warm with ranch dressing or your favorite dipping sauce, if desired.
